Trust is nearly impossible after therapy abuse

A consequence of being abused by your therapist is never feeling comfortable and confident in believing or trusting a professional…

My nervous system and inner child believe NO ONE.

Except I continue to be naive and trusting. I’m coming to terms with the fact that some humans operate in very different ways - my goal is to keep a very small circle of trustworthy people 🙏🏻

I’m quite sure my abusive therapist recognized I’m autistic - my inability to maintain healthy boundaries, my desire to always be agreeable has always been intense.

My doctor recognized I was the ideal victim🫠😬😖

10 Ways Therapists Abuse Patients

10 Ways therapists abuse patients

1. Power Misuse

Therapists hold a position of power over their patients, which can make them vulnerable to abuse. The therapist may use their power to control or manipulate the patient.

2. Violation of Trust

When a patient seeks therapy, they trust the therapist to help them. Abuse by a therapist violates that trust and can have serious consequences for the patient's mental health.

3. Emotional Abuse

Emotional abuse can be just as damaging as physical abuse. A therapist who is emotionally abusive may belittle, criticize, or shame their patient.

4. Sexual Misconduct

Sexual misconduct by a therapist is a serious form of abuse. It can involve sexual contact, inappropriate comments, or other forms of sexual exploitation.

5. Financial Exploitation

Therapists may engage in financial exploitation by charging excessive fees or encouraging unnecessary sessions to boost their own income.

6. Boundary Violations

Therapists are supposed to maintain strict professional boundaries with their patients. Boundary violations can include disclosing personal information or engaging in inappropriate physical contact.

7. Coercion

Therapists may use coercion to keep their patients coming back for sessions or to prevent them from reporting abuse. This can involve threats or other forms of pressure.

8. Gaslighting

Gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse where the abuser manipulates their victim into doubting their own perceptions and reality. Therapists may use gaslighting to convince their patient that their own perceptions and feelings are wrong.

9. Trauma

Abuse by a therapist can be deeply traumatic for the patient, especially if they are already dealing with mental health issues. It can exacerbate their symptoms and make it difficult for them to trust anyone else in the future.

10. Ethical Violations

Therapists are held to strict ethical standards, and abuse by a therapist is a violation of those standards. It can result in disciplinary action and loss of license.

Follow US On TikTok!

Hello humans!!

Starting a new business takes a lot of work and I’m in the process of trying to create a solid foundation so we’re eventually ready to take this to the media. And so we can better support those who reach out to us.

Trying to get everything organized - I have so much to share and content to post! To this end, my team is growing! I need help getting several radio interviews, vlogs, etc out there and I now have an amazing digital media manager! So things are happening! Progress over perfection until you can finally hire someone 🤗

Recently I’ve been familiarizing myself with TikTok. I generally dislike social media and have an assistant to handle that aspect in my professional photography business. But I DO love creating videos - I guess I’m starting to enjoy it. I don’t feel comfortable going Live yet but I’m hopeful just doing it will make it easier over time. I feel awkward and I typically prefer being behind the lens.

TikTok is such powerful search engine and it’s allowing me to quickly raise awareness and connect with other potential victims of therapy abuse.

❗️Get this: Unethical Boundaries gained 3900 FOLLOWERS in only 6 weeks 😱

That’s nuts!

That means there’s a NEED for the content being provided.

Folks want to understand their confusing experience; they want to know how to protect themselves.

And I’m brave enough (with nothing left to lose) to go public and discuss what’s an incredibly private and personal trauma.

My team and I have created a guide 10 Ways Therapists Abuse Patients out of a TikTok video series - please go check it out and let us know what you think!

If you aren’t on social media, don’t worry; this free guide will be available in the next couple weeks for download 🫶🏻

We Speak A Different Language

“One reason why trauma

survivors often bond w/ each

other so profoundly-- which is

different from a "trauma bond"

- is because ppl who've been through certain things "speak" a different emotional language than the rest of humanity....& we recognize that "language" when we hear it.
